Offshore equipment connectivity
Connect offshore monitoring, diagnostic, and maintenance systems to shore-side teams over your existing internet connection.
WireGress provides managed connectivity with a dedicated static public IPv4 for outbound traffic. Where authorized remote access is needed, custom inbound connectivity can be scoped and configured for your deployment.
Offshore platforms, buoys, and remote monitoring installations may have internet access without a stable public IP or a direct inbound connection path. Satellite services that use carrier-grade NAT, or CGNAT, prevent ordinary local port forwarding from making equipment directly reachable over public IPv4.
WireGress gives selected offshore traffic a dedicated public IPv4 through a managed WireGuard gateway. Approved shore-side platforms and vendors can allowlist that address. Custom inbound access can also be arranged for selected maintenance hosts or services.
Use the equipment's existing remote-access or vendor-managed connection where it already meets your requirements. WireGress is a fit when you need a public IP identity independent of the local carrier, or a configured inbound path through CGNAT.
Connect offshore monitoring gateways and historians to approved shore-side platforms using a consistent outbound IP. For maintenance, discuss custom inbound access to a designated jump host or engineering workstation.
Keep access to operational equipment subject to your network segmentation and maintenance procedures.
Send weather, water-quality, oceanographic, and other measurements to collection platforms that require an allowlisted source IP. A compatible local gateway can connect equipment that does not run WireGuard itself.
Suitability depends on available power, communications capacity, and the installation's gateway capabilities.
Provide a consistent outbound identity for compatible video platforms. Where required, discuss custom inbound access to an approved recorder or video management service for authorized inspection.
Video quality and concurrent streams depend on the offshore uplink's available bandwidth.
Give authorized support teams a configured path to a maintenance gateway or diagnostic host. Remote inspection of logs and equipment status can help determine whether an offshore visit is necessary.
Limit access to approved sources and services, with application authentication in place.
Outbound — included
Selected traffic uses your dedicated public IPv4, giving shore-side platforms and vendor systems a predictable source address to allowlist.
Custom inbound — by arrangement
Inbound access is scoped and configured per deployment for approved sources, ports, and destination services. A dedicated outbound IP does not automatically make offshore equipment publicly reachable.
A dedicated WireGress gateway is provisioned with a static public IPv4 for your deployment.
Your team or integration partner configures a WireGuard peer on a compatible offshore router or host. WireGress supplies the service configuration, not client software.
Send the required traffic through WireGress. The offshore router continues to manage local routing and any uplink selection.
Add the WireGress address to the access lists of approved monitoring platforms, vendors, and shore-side services.
Contact us to discuss a custom configuration for an approved maintenance host, recorder, or diagnostic service.
Important: A static IP supports network access rules; it does not replace authentication, application encryption, or least-privilege access. Keep equipment and platform security controls in place end to end.
A practical fit for periodic reporting, monitoring feeds, and maintenance access that can tolerate a WireGress gateway interruption.
Review the Core Plan →Better suited to deployments that need the same outbound public IP to remain available through a WireGress gateway or facility failure.
Offshore systems should still use appropriate timeouts, local buffering, and retry logic. Gateway failover does not guarantee preservation of every application session.
Review the HA Plan →Yes, when a compatible offshore router or host can establish the required outbound WireGuard tunnel. Custom inbound access can then be configured through WireGress. The offshore carrier does not need to provide a public IPv4 or inbound port forwarding for this design.
No. WireGress is a managed connectivity layer that runs over your existing internet service. Your connectivity provider continues to supply the offshore connection.
No. The dedicated static public IPv4 supports outbound connectivity. Inbound access to an approved offshore service is a custom configuration scoped and arranged per deployment.
Not necessarily. A compatible router or gateway can route selected devices through WireGress. Your team or integration partner supplies and maintains that equipment or standard WireGuard implementation; WireGress does not provide client software.
No. HA addresses WireGress-side gateway and facility failures. If the offshore uplink is unavailable, remote connectivity is lost regardless. Local resilience requires a separate power and connectivity design.
